Varför ska vi lämna något som ”funkar”?

Jag har funderat länge på varför dominans, lydnad och manipulation av hästar har kunnat bli så självklart. Det är så man ska handskas med hästar, vi är fortfarande väldigt få som ifrågasätter det. I mina iakttagelser och jämförelser har jag funnit många svar, t.ex. för att det ser så även inom andra områden. Men varför? Varför anses det ok att kontrollera och kuva en annan individ?  Jag tror svaret är skrämmande simpelt – För att det fungerar.
För att man genom detta kan uppnå resultat som ser bra ut. Det ser ut att fungera. Hästen lyder ju. Varför ändra på det?
Om jag vill ändra någon annans beteende och jag lyckas, då fungerar ju min metod. Eller?

Vi är alla så vana vid att djur ska lyda människan. Djur står under människan. Om djuret säger ifrån är det trots och ska bestraffas. Djuret äger inte rätten till sin egen kropp. Djuret äger inte rätten att uttrycka sig. Människan äger djuret.

Det var dock inte alltför länge sedan som kvinnan var en ägodel. När allt som vi berövar djuren idag, berövades oss då. Vår rätt att uttrycka oss, kunna vara glad och sprallig utan att det anses som opassande, och säga ifrån utan bestraffning. Rätten till vår egen kropp. Rätten att inte bli insatt i ett hierarkiskt system utan möjlighet att ta sig ut – är du foglig går du emot dig själv, protesterar du anses du utmanande.

Problemet som jag ser det är att olika grupper kan flytta sig något i hierarkin, men systemet är ändå kvar. Kvinnor har det långt bättre idag men eftersom systemet i sig egentligen inte ändrats kan vi inte nå hela vägen fram. Det finns alltid en skala. Och när vi lever inuti systemet, är det så svårt att se det, och så lätt att bara föra det vidare – för det vi har i vår vardag blir till självklarheter. Vi lär barnen både genom hur vi beter oss mot dem, hur vi beter oss mot djur och hur vi uppmanar barn att bete sig mot djur.

Men inuti systemet kan vi göra skillnad! Det krävs att vi medvetandegör och ifrågasätter precis allt, att vi inte tar något som självklart. Trots vårt ägande av hästen på pappret, trots att hästarna behöver förvaras på begränsade ytor av samhällsmässiga skäl, eller att skydda oss båda från olyckor, så finns det så mycket innanför den ramen som vi kan rasera och bygga om. Det finns så mycket vi kan göra tillsammans med hästen, det finns så mycket som hästen kan lära oss om.

Varför byta ut dominans, lydnad och manipulation till samarbete, kommunikation och tillåtelse?

    För mig så gör det ont inombords när någon daskar till en häst för lydnads skull. Folk talar om för mig att det är så man måste handskas med hästar för annars kör de över dig. De kommer bitas eller sparkas. Men varför känns det så otroligt fel? Jag vill inte slå min häst, använda spö för disciplin eller höja rösten. Jag vill att hästen gör det man ber om för att han själv vill det och för att han tycker det är kul!

      när dom inte tycker det då? när de vita svamparna som lyser i skymningen blir jättefarliga, är det ok att kasta sig iväg och skita i ryttaren då? skita i vad som finns i vägen hästen bestämmer att vi som ekipage tar? blir halt av det? eller trampar av en sko? när hästen tycker det är kul att komma med ut men inte vill gå i ledet eller i den fart jag vill? ska den då få göra som den vill för den tycker det är kul att skena? det är inte disciplin för mig( jag är dressyrryttare så det är ngt annat för mig) för mig är det säkerhet att hästen gör som jag säger och kan jag inte få hästen att lyssna på de hjälper jag ger så rider inte jag för då kan jag inte garantera HÄSTENS säkerhet, och jag vill inte att ngn häst ska skada sig när jag har hand om den……men det är så jag tänker, jag har nog inte hängt med i utvecklingen, men jag ska börja läsa på!

        Jag tror du får läsa om mitt inlägg och fundera lite till 😉 Dels för att jag nämner säkerhet, dels för att jag inte säger att hästen ska bestämma över oss. Det du beskriver är fortfarande hierarki-tänkande men med omvända roller. Det jag pratar om är samarbete.
